Dear Nathan, Thank you for using your legal expertise and wisdom to expose the hypocrisy and lies of Best Friends Animal Society, Austin Pets Alive, Kristen Hassen and HASS, and those political leaders and others
who don’t save the voiceless “ghost “ dogs and cats that are left on the streets. What has happened to “humanity “ that /who allows Sentient Beings/Animals to be treated as “things " rather than as living beings who deserve better?! Animal SHELTERS should be doing what they are designed to be doing, that is, to feed, protect, and find loving homes for strays and lost or abandoned pets. BE TRUTHFUL .== EACH AND EVERY LIFE MATTERS ❤️🐶😸🐇
So, when I have to find a rescue to take a dog because the shelters put a long delay into when the dog can get in to a shelter, that the owner is stuck as to what to do, that I as a senior citizen stopped everything for a day and a half to make sure this got expedited.
You are damn right the shelter work gets put on people outside of the shelter system.
But at least I knew the realities I am up against, so that I actually did this for a young couple I did not know.
I am so upset.Morning Joe must have too much sugar in his coffee...no fact checking, just a propaganda arm for Best Friends.. I hope they give Nathan Winograd equal time. They are supposed to report factually.
Why speak the truth when lies bring you money? How quickly Best Friends went from raising money to save animals to using animals to raise money for themselves and self aggrandizement. Best to be funding the small rescues that tirelessly do their work.
The hardest part is lies of convenience promoted by failing shelters. The press seldom covers it. The government covers it up. So we have to become our own press. I have a small blog mcas - shelter shock but so much of the time I have goes to helping citizens get their dogs safely home that I don't get to update it as often as it should be. But there is a new well funded well organized blog, that just started - mcasexposed.org that hopefully will reach more people. We have to become our own press. We can't politely just keep asking for change. They ignore us.. every time. We have to compel change quoting John Lewis : " Make good trouble." And not be so nice about it.
I very much appreciate this Gail, but I have lost faith in the legacy media. I find I have to read the same story in multiple publications just to try and get a complete picture of what is occurring and even that proves difficult, because the notion of impartiality seems to have disappeared completely. And that is separate from the lack of in-depth reporting that tries to look behind claims and press releases.
I gave a very long interview, followed up by email Q&A, on this topic with a NY reporter this week and while he was sympathetic, in a moment of candor, he admitted that his editors were concerned about how critical his initial draft was about the numbers being reported and the failure of “shelters” to do their jobs. Whether they publish his article remains to be seen.
People want to believe what they want to believe and as newspapers panic about declining subscriptions, they are increasingly spoon feeding readers the partisanship they appear to want.
How about going on Jon Stewart > He loves dogs, when his dog died he featured him on his show, and he likes troublemakers who uncover unpleasant facts.

Thanks for calling these abuses out.

Stewart and his wife own an Animal Sanctuary, if not mistaken.
Thank you much, Nathan -- will share this truth-behind-the-scenes analysis -- unconscionable what Best Friends, HASS, and their ilk, are doing --
