We need legislators with a conscience, have empathy for animals and animals right to live, and recognize homeless companion animal's desire to live as real. Respect it to the point that law makers will create laws to preserve their lives.
Some legislators in Washington DC are taking it seriously when it comes to animals who endure abuse and exploitation in labs, so I am hoping to see the same concern extend to companion animals in shelters, pounds and certain rescues.
Animals do so much for the humans they love and are close to, and even humans they don't know i.e. working animals. It hurts that the right people don't care enough to treat animals better instead of ending the kill policy.
Dear Nathan, l am totally in sync with your wise and common sense logic. I am exasperated at the insensitivity and ignorance of the inhumane "creatures” who run these “shelters “ and the greedy and phony organizations such ASPCA, Best Friends, etc. and our politicians that are supportive of them. One possible solution would be to put these “creatures” into the “shelters” (jails) and leave them without food or water and make “visiting hours “ unavailable. Some of these “creatures “ especially in Los Angeles should probably be sentenced to be “”euthanized” for the murders that they have caused. Please continue to support the love of animals with your wise legal and caring nature. I would also suggest that you be in charge of Health and Human (and animal) Services in the next administration.
We MUST keep pursuing Legislators informing them of the real facts and truth and have them NOT rely on orgs like ASPCA, Best Friends, et al. -- Jerry, have you written to any of your Reps in Govt? -- Many do not realize that the big Animal orgs like Best Friends, Humane Society, ASPCA, etc. do NOT really care about Animals.
