Dear Nathan, The simple and logical response to those insènsitive ideologs who propose their “mechanical” and inhumane concept akin to dogs and cats are ,”things”, is COMMON SENSE and EACH LIFE MATTERS. How can any human being who lives in our society and has children or who has friends or family who have children, be so cold-hearted as to promote the absurdity of turning away dogs and cats to live on the streets. Animals are sentient beings as are humans and thus deserve to be treated similarly. I am a former educator (School Principal,Professor, etc.) who has witnessed how children and families become more loving and compassionate when they play with dogs or cats, reàd to thèir critters, or do research about them, do music or art projects about them, and leàrn about compassion and responsibility, etc. There i is scientific evidence of the above points . Dogs and cats should be adopted from shelters, otherwise they should be banned to loving animal sanctuaries. There are also prison programs where the inmates train dogs to be socialized and/or to be service or. Therapy dogß which then get adopted . These dogs can also visit Nursing homes to boost spirits of the residents, Sincerely, Jerry Neidich, Ph.D. worldbanking@aol.com
