Ah! Don’t make me cry but spontaneous adoptions especially of abandoned shelter dogs are just your heart leading you in the right direction. You just take them home and see what happens unfold. It always makes you a bigger and better person. Holly Bear was an accidental adoption, an old dog living in the backyard in an outdoor kennel. It was raining that day and the owners said they would be getting rid of her end of month when they were moving. I was there for other reasons. So I said put her in the back of the car; I would sort it out later and I did. She stayed with us. I learned to never to underestimate an old dog. They give you twice the love in half the time and its an honor to take care of them.
Dear Nathan, l and any devoted animal lover can relate to your heartfelt experiences and memories of your beloved Pickles and Topham. I am saddened every day as l look at the photo of my late beloved boxer named Snoopy, who was such a sweet dog. And this love that we experience highlights my anger at insensitivity of those “shelter” managers who kill (euthanize “) the loving but voiceless Sentient Beings/animals who deserve to be treated with the same respect as if they were Human Beings. Those heartless people should be subjected to the same punishment as if they murdered a human being. It is also sad to think about the short lifespan of dogs and cats. And l have a close contact who is devoted to the cause of extending the lifespan of humans and animals. He is associated with some of the brilliant scientists in this arena. In memory of Pickles and Topham and Soopy, wouldn’t it be a blessing for the millions of pet lovers to be able to have their pets for additional years? I would love to hear from other people in this matter. Thank you Nathan.
